I came to Sam about a year and a half ago with a recommendation from one of his former clients, who had competed with him about 20 years ago (…If that doesn’t tell you something to begin with!). I had decided that I wanted to compete in the bikini division and had started out with little knowledge, hiring a coach online that I had found via Instragram. To say the least, I wasn’t happy with the way things were going, and in fact, I was progressing in the wrong direction. I was eating a LOT of food, and it was making me bloat/ puff up, and with the way I was training, I started to lose my feminine figure. That’s when I went to Sam for my initial in-person consult, which was a moment that changed my life in more ways than one! Sam’s 40+ years of experience in this industry are instantly apparent, and he immediately pointed out what was wrong with my current diet and style of training. He took the time to sit down with my family and me to thoroughly explain everything so that we could really understand the science and the why behind the changes I would need to make to reach my goals. I can’t say enough about how Sam has helped mold me into the man I am today. I was introduced to Sam at 15 years old, weighing 140 lbs. I was one of the top football players in the area, but if I wanted to play college football, I needed to take the next step physically and mentally. For those of you who do not know Sam Priest, let me explain. Sam Priest is one of a kind. His character, his morals, his depth of knowledge, his ability to speak to young people, his standards, his kindness, all are above reproach. Sam Priest is training my son and is continually molding him into an incredible young man who understands nutrition, exercise, and exactly what it means to be aware of your body. With every session, not only is Sam educating my son, but he is filling him with wisdom about life, decision making, standing up to do the right thing, joking with him, and just being a role model. Role models are hard to come by today. My son has his father who knows how to guide him from child to young adult but having another male figure to mentor our young people is incredible. Even though I was well over the age of 21 I had some fitness goals to achieve. I had the pleasure of meeting Sam as a young child while watching him train my parents. Growing up, I was a competitive dancer and at the age of 16 sustained a career-ending bi-lateral hip injury. At least that’s what the orthopedic surgeon told me.
